During the early months of 2010 the Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers widened communication with youth living in other war-torn counties. We talked with Iraqi, Palestinian and Israeli young people and found much in common about our struggle to hold on to hope and our deep yearning for peace.
As we talked with young people in our own and nearby provinces, and then with more and more youth in other parts of the world, we realize how critical person-to-person contact is on the path to peace. The widening of Our Journey To Smile has become The People’s Journey to a Peace Beyond Dismissal. Three of us have applied for visas to travel to the US. While Abdulai, Faiz and I reapply for our visa The People’s Journey Tour must start.
We are honored to have the leaders of one of our strongest partners the ContagiousLoveExperiment/wordpress/blog begin the Tour.
The Journey will welcome two girls and an with adult leader from Palestine when it reaches Washington D.C. on or about June 15, 2010.
The three of us from Afghanistan hope to join The People’s Journey in person too. We will be speaking via telephone with some of you as Josh, Conor, Salam and the girls begin The People’s Journey without us.
We are there in spirit.
Hakim and the Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers from Afghanistan
